Shin Ok-ju

(?)

Not much can be found about her early life and origins. She founded her church, Grace Road Church in 2002 in South Korea, yet currently th church website states 2008.

She was sued for $6million in 2014 in Brooklyn by a 27-year-old mentally ill man after Shin tried to cure his schizophrenia with prayer. He was bound with duct tape during the ritual and ultimately had to have his leg amputated.

Her followers traveled to Fiji starting in 2014 after she predicted there would be a famine across the Korean peninsula. After arriving their passports were confiscated and a group personally selected by Shin known as “guardians” prevented the worshipers from leaving.

She was arrested in 2018 in South Korea. She was charged with forcing her followers to stay on Fiji, where the church had a community, and inciting them to assault uncooperative members. In 2019 she was sentenced to 6 years prison.

Currently her biography on her church's website states:

Reverend Okjoo Shin is the true servant of God, who has been proclaiming the voice of the Spirit of Truth since 2008. She interprets the breadth, length, height, and depth(Eph 3:18) of the will of God by discerning spiritual thoughts with spiritual words (1 Cor 2:13) that no Bible scholars, Hebrew and Greek experts, and theologians dared to solve. She was the only one to state that the mysteries of the kingdom of God can only be revealed by interpreting the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation as one whole. Reverend Shin has been shedding light on the lies that differ from the Bible, which have been rampant even 2000 years after Jesus Christ died on the cross, resurrected and ascended to heaven. She is the one who has taken action to carry out the perfect biblical reformation (Heb 9:10).
